Don't you just love a weekend with no real plans or activities? This weekend I will be quilting and I'm so excited!
I'm also a little nervous... this beauty dates back to the 1970's. Note that I am not calling this a vintage quilt. That's because I was born in 1977 and I am not vintage. ;)
It's hand pieced and has some really fun fabrics in it. I'm quilting this one and another one for the owner of the quilts. This one will be a Christmas gift.
So you know that nervous feeling you get when you drop your needle into the quilt for the first time to begin quilting? I get that way with my own quilts so that feeling is multiplied when I'm quilting someone else's quilt; especially when it's been passed down in a family.
I have a few designs in mind that will hopefully reflect the the time that this quilt was pieced in and the fact that it's a family heirloom. As I'm basting and "getting to know" the quilt, I'll decide on the final design... that's typically when I finalize my quilting plans. Then the real fun begins...
I hope ya'll have a wonderful weekend!

Can't wait to see how you quilt this one. I have a similar one around here someplace. Vintage? Nope... we're 'seasoned'. *g*
ahhh it is a gorgeous one...get that needle in and quilt...you will be moved as your recipient will be....it is lovely so far
Best of luck! You'll do an amazing job :D
Happy quilting! I look forward to seeing the finished product!
Where did u get the blocks. I bought some very similar in Hillsville VA, same block pattern but made with mens shits. I'd guess the80s. Just got done putting them together today. I still have enough blocks to make two quilts, can' wait to see your finished quilt!
I'd be nervous, too! I have 2 unfinished quilts (just need binding) that are old but not sure how old. I sorta inherited them, along with several others, including one that had "1912" stitched in the center!! One of these days, I hope I'll be confident enough to attempt to finish them.
I'm guessing the commenter above meant men's shirts...gave me a laugh anyway. This looks like a fun quilt. Good on you for quilting it for someone else - I would be feeling the pressure too but I'm sure the owner will love what you do.
I am sure you will do it justice :)
What a lovely quilt. You're quilting is amazing on all your projects...so I know this one will turn out beautifully too! look forward to seeing it finished.
It's going to be wonderful!!
PS...I was a sophomore in high school when you were born. *big grin*
Just home from a big trip and catching up, hope the quilting's going well, and love your wee lunchbox. I think you need to call that quilt Death Star now you've told us though ;o)
I love stars and I love 70s fabric. You are not vintage! I graduated HS in 1975 and got married in 1979!!! I'M VINTAGE but I've decided that is ok.
