That's why I blog. I can rattle stuff off to people who will {mostly} get me. However, I don't expect anyone to get that I dreamed about the proper use of semicolons last night.
True story.
I've been considering hosting another quilt along. They are always a lot of fun and you get to meet new quilters and even learn some new skills.
All of my quilts seem to carry an official name as well as an alternate name that I can't bring myself to name the quilt but it still sticks. Like "Balls to the Wall".
Enter a quilt along by the name of "Giant Granny Panties". I know... but every time I look at the design, that's all that I can think of. It's a different technique but based off of the traditional block that everyone has taken to calling a "granny square". Except it's only one granny square but really big; hence the name.
That's my first quilt along idea...
But then I blogged yesterday about the double wedding ring templates I also got some comments and emails about making that quilt as a group. No clever name there but it was also a consideration when I was buying the templates. It's a difficult quilt to make so why not surround myself with other quilters miserable with tedious templates? ;)
My hesitation there is that a quilt like that may exclude some that are intimidated by the pattern. But "Giant Granny Panties"... everyone would have fun making that quilt.
So what do you think? Which quilt along would you be more interested in? Or maybe we could just make both quilts and call the whole quilt along "Granny Panties on Your Wedding Night".
Yep. I just said that. Yet another reason why I blog.

I have been thinking about a giant granny square quilt for a couple of months now. With vintage sheets and quilt as you go. I'm in, if you do it! And I think Giant Granny Panties is awesome, but then again I'm someone who named one of my quilts What the FMQAYGQAL?! ;)
I would have to put on my Giant Granny panties to make a wedding ring quilt. They both sound like lots of fun but one would be enough for me! I'll follow you and the crowd.
You are hilarious! I got such a great chuckle out of your post today! I would love to do a quilt along for a wedding ring quilt. I've been collecting fabric for one for over a year now, but I'm intimidated by the pattern and just really don't know where to begin. I would love to have some others be miserable with me in the cutting and sewing of all those tiny pieces.
I'm a new quilter and love QAL's but I need lots of tut's and tricks! I would love to make a the wedding ring, but holy moly would that terrify me! I love your granny idea, and my hubby sure would get a kick out of the name :)
oh what a funny post! You made me laugh!! I would like the "granny panties" QAL...
ROFL!! That is so wrong (granny panties on the wedding night)! But so hysterical! Balls to the walls on the wedding day might be more appropriate LOL! Oh my! Me personally, I'm not a big fan of having to buy any special template or ruler, but I'd have to see both ideas to decide. Is there a post about the granny panties? Sounds like fun!
OK, just figured out the giant granny idea (I think), after re-reading your post. Since I made a granny square quilt this Spring, I guess then I'd be more for the wedding ring. You could do both and put the granny on the back of the wedding ring LOL!
I am already doing a Great Granny QA and have just started cutting my squares, so I would be interested in the wedding ring if you go that route.
I never thought I would say this but I am interested in the giant granny panties.
You ain't right! Count me in for the granny squares. I mean, who doesn't need a few Granny Panties in their life?
Just no thong quilt-alongs, ok? ;o)
Ha! Sounds great to me! At 52 yrs old, those granny panties can be mighty comfy!
I like both. I don't like to have to purchase extra templates and rulers. The Plaid Scottie did a double wedding ring QA and I couldn't fit it in my schedule. I know I could fit a granny square in. I'll just keep following and see what you decide. Your posts always crack me up.
I'd like the big granny panties (or great granny panties) for me. I don't think I have the patience for a double wedding ring quilt with the curves and all the templates.
I would definitely go for the granny panties :-)
I cannot stop laughing. Great post!
In my head this sounds like a "Trip Around The World" quilt. What about a "trip around grandma's panties quilt along"? hahahaha
What's a grannysquare quilt? I've quilted for about 30 years and never heard of grannysquares except in crochet !
Sounds fun, though.......definitely not into the arcs/wedding ring.
Thanks for the chuckle. I love the Granny panties on your Wedding Night. Can't imagine how that one would look!
Ha, ha - great stuff! Your names are the best.
oh granny panties on your wedding night is awesome....LOL
Too Funny! I'd be in for the wedding ring one. Probably, cause I'm one of those "misery loves company" type of people.
I'd be down for some Granny Panties on your wedding night. So long as it's your wedding night and not mine. ;o)
"Granny panties on your wedding night" I really did laugh out loud on that one! Sounds fun either way! :-)
I seriously laughed out loud at that one! Love the idea. I am in for the Giant Granny Panties.
Jennifer, you make me laugh! I'm imagining a Trip Around the World...am I right? Great name!!
You are so funny! I am cracking up! I would be down for some Giant Granny Panties on Your Wedding Night, but only the Granny part, not the double wedding ring part. Btw, Double--and single--wedding rings look hard as heck. I admire anyone who can do them :)
I'd love to make a Giant Granny Panty quilt ~ sounds like fun.
Oh, and you CRACK me up!
I'm all in for Giant Granny Panties. Truth be told, I'm a true believer in wearing granny panties, so doing a quilt along with that name is perfect for me. I've always hated bikini underwear, even going back to my teenage years, and then when thongs came along - FORGET ABOUT IT!
You crack me up! That's what I love about quilters! Imagination and humor!
Oh what a funny post, I love it! I am all for Grannies Panties, how much fun is that!
I just finished a double Wedding Ring WOW WHAT AN UNDERTAKING but it was fun tackling something new. I'd love to join a quilt along especially one with such a fun name..this post made me laugh out loud
I love it! You are too funny! I am all for Grannies Panties on Your Wedding Night! Who can keep from laughing with a title like that?!
I totally get the semicolon thing. My brother and I regularly discuss the finer points of grammar.
I just named a quilt "Kaffe'-O-Lait" so I think your quilt naming skills are highly evolved!
