On the road...

I love road trips.  Especially ones in Texas.  Small towns are so interesting and being a native Texan, there are so many little things I love to share with Steve as we travel.

Like pointing out prime spots for snipe hunting.  giggle

We took Chaney and her best friend to camp on Sunday and we don't pick them up until this Saturday.  It's very quiet in our house!

Between stopping at Dairy Queen a.k.a the Texas stop sign and a hayride at camp...

...I finished the binding on my Dizzy Diamonds quilt.  I love the binding fabric!

I finished it with time to spare and when we got home it promptly went into the washer and then dryer.  I came out perfectly crinkled and it's all mine.  Steve attempted to call it his until I threw another quilt at him.

Every time I use this quilt or even walk past it, I smile.  It was a lot of work but well worth it.  I'll be finalizing the pattern as I get input in from my lovely pattern testers and I hope to show the whole quilt plus the pattern in early August.  I can't wait!

Now I just have to finish quilting my next quilt so I have something to bind on our trip back to camp this Saturday.  You know I can't spend all my time on the road looking for snipe... ;)

Beautiful quilt! My 2 boys are away at camp this week too! It's the first real alone time DH and I have ever had in over 14 years! Amazing! But also a reminder that in no time they'll be flying out of our nest!!

Lol! If you ever end up in Saskatchewan, I'll show you the spots where you have to watch out for snow snakes. :-)

Well done with the pattern - it'll feel really good to finish it off!

we just went from Houston to Dallas to Tyler and Back to Houston. The boys kept saying "are we out of Texas yet?". I told my husband that driving in Texas is like Hotel california...you can check in any time you like...but you can never leave! It just keeps GOING AND GOING!

My husband and I enjoy taking side trips to the towns surrounding Austin. There are festivals galore and lots of fun things like visiting wineries.

That bias binding is so awesome, love it. Looking forward to seeing the reveal, I like every pic I've seen of this quilt. I hope Chaney has a great time at camp and you get tons of stuff done.

Oh I love road trips too. I don't look for snipes and only once in a while do I doing quilting. I just enjoy looking at everything! Beautiful quilt. I just had to laugh to myself because when I finish a quilt I'll keep smiling as I walk by it. I'm glad you kept this one for yourself. It's beautiful! I love the binding too.
P.S. If you ever need a pattern tester, I would love to help.

We have snipe here, too! Amazing little critters...they really get around. ;) Love the way the binding worked out - the bias cut is genius. Enjoy your quiet week, ours was in early June and it was wonderful.
