Ever want to shout something from the rooftops? Like an injustice. Yeah, me too. But sometimes you can't always do that so when in doubt, make a quilt. :)
Remember this beautiful picture? I'm turning more and more to inspiration found in scenes from the world around us these days. For this quilt; it was both the colors and the rooftops set against the blues from the sea and sky.
I have always wanted to make a skinny quilt like the beautiful ones that Marit makes. This one measures 36" x 50" and it will be hanging on the wall along our stairs.
It's backed with a print from one of Denyse Schmidt's lines for Joanns.
I quilted it with random straight lines mixed with rising and falling diagonal lines that mimic the outlines of the various rooftops.
Starting the bottom of the quilt with various terracotta triangles and finishing the top of the quilt with blue skies and one single roof top was a last minute design decision and one I'm glad that I made. I like to think that it gives this simple quilt some added depth and texture.
I bound it with a tangerine and aqua striped fabric that I've had so long that I can't remember the line or the designer. I used my new Eleanor Burns ruler to make the bias strips and it was super easy.
I don't keep many of my quilts anymore but I'm so glad that this one is mine to keep!
Linking up for Crazy Mom's Finish it Friday. Have a wonderful weekend!

Awesome! I love posts that show the inspiration and I love how you've interpreted that photo in your quilt. Very fitting seeing as tangerine is the Panatone Colour of the Year. When you see it on your wall just pretend it's a window and you're looking out over your own little piece of Mediterranean paradise!
It came out awesome! Love the colour combo. Congrats on a keeper!
love it! you have inspired me to capture the colors of the world around me right now! Thanks!
Love the colors and I'm so loving the half triangle block. Exciting to have one to keep.
Oh and thanks for the link to Design Seeds.
Love the quilt - you captured both the color and the feel of that photo so well. And, oh, to see that place in person someday!
Beautiful. I love how you interpreted the picture. Glad you're keeping this one.
Gorgeous! I love how you translated the colors in the photo into the fabric choices. And I really like how you designed the top and bottom rows. Awesome- enjoy it!
Beautiful! And thanks for sharing your inspiration.
Wow, what a fantastic color palette! You really hit the Mediterranean nail on the head with this one!
It is lovely, and I really enjoyed seeing how you were inspired. I love that one roof at the top of the quilt, too!
Gorgeous!!! Love the way it was interpreted from the picture! The colors are awesome and I love the single triangle at the top. So brave not to worry about symmetry. I wish I could get over it. Everything is more beautiful when it's not symmetrical!!! Salute!!!!! LOL
Absolutely gorgeous! So bright and cheery! Love your quilt!
