| when Chaney got "married" to Bunny |
Sometimes it is hard for me not to be money focused because that's entirely what my day job is about. But when I step back and look at what is going on around me it almost looks silly. Almost. Now, I wouldn't be in my line of work if I didn't believe that money and financial security should be a priority but sometimes I wonder if we have made it the priority.
Children go to bed hungry, in our own country, every night. Over 50% of marriages end in divorce which happens to be a bigger number than any recent stock market decline. Where is the media hype and widespread panic over these things?? But mess with our money and all heck breaks loose. Hmmm...
So with all these things considered, I was thinking this morning about ways to shift my focus and I decided to list a few things that I'm thankful for that don't have a direct financial value. Here are my first three:
- My family... they are the best parts of my day
- Our church... I look forward to every weekend when we can learn and focus {or re-focus} on what really matters.
- My creativity... God given and just so must fun to use.

Family, Friends, Sanity.. sometimes that last one is a little IFFY, but today it is there, so I will list it with pleasure :)
I am thankful for my sisters who pick me up when I am down, having healthy children, and finding a church with members that truly feel like family and truly focus on the teachings of Christ.
My three would be right up there with your three. I try to daily remember how blessed I am by God.
I am thankful for (a) the good health of my family, (b) my job which gives me endless mental satisfaction, and, not withstanding (b), for (c) the fact that I have a large fabric stash - since there is a chance that I will be on strike/locked out as of Monday (I know - university profs on strike: crazy!) and I will need something to do when not on the picket line.
I am thankful for a great many things... first three are 1. my family 2. that our kids, 23 and 21 yo, are independent and thriving and 3. that I have so many friends of all ages, and that many of them are quilters/sewists. but there is so much more... thanks for the reminder to be thankful!
1. My son's smile, not really much of an exaggeration to say it lights up a room.
