Camp time {almost}

Steve and I attended the parent meeting for campers about a month ago.  Oh, the details... the do's... the don'ts... the lists... the email account to set up to correspond with your camper.  Yep, you read that right!

Me:  So what did you think {about the meeting}?

Steve:  I thought it was good.  Chaney is going to have a blast.  What did you think?

Me:  That I don't wanna go to camp!

Steve:  Well, then thank goodness it's Chaney going and not you!

I love his way with words...

The great camp countdown is upon us. In 5 days Chaney leaves for a packed week of horses, water slides, campfires, and friends.  She needs a blanket for her bed that can withstand the rigors of camp so what's a crafty mom to do??

Yep, a quick quilt.

Two vintage twin sized flat sheets + 1 charm pack of Little Apples = one mom feeling a little better about sending her baby to camp for a week.

And I promise to take better care of Aneela's sweet characters than the Pips that I "fussy cut"... ;)

Stay tuned for an easy tutorial!

And in other news, we are finally getting a new roof and having all the damage from the storm repaired today.  We are on the 33rd consecutive day of 100+ degrees of heat and it's supposed to be 110 today... those poor roofers!

I'm happy to be at work avoiding all the hammering and noise.  Chaney is at home so she can bring the roofers water.  And then Steve is home to make sure they aren't doing it wrong.  I bet by the end of the day that they like Chaney more... ;)

My son just got back from his 2nd stint at overnight camp, but the longest, and we had no contact with him the whole week, since it was on the side of Mt Rainier, very remote. So hard to let go! Glad you can send a piece of you! My mom (and brother and extended family) all live in Dallas. I really feel sorry for you all! My mom will be escaping the heat soon, and making a trip out here to the PNW. I can't wait! She'll be bringing some sewing projects with her!! Good luck with the roof Ugh! Hope you don't have to turn off the AC. Feel really sorry for those roofers!

Ok. Camp is the greatest. I went to camp after 5th grade and had such a great time I went back years later as a camp counselor. I am sure she will have a great time.

Camping is just wonderful when you're a kid! I loved it, still do, but haven't been in ages.
I'm wanting some of the Little Apples but have so much other fabric that I can't get myself to buy any ~ Aneela is such a wonderful designer.
Sorry it's so hot where you are. Blistering, I'd say. Hope it cools down soon.

Mummy separation anxiety - completely normal. Just think about all the fun she is going to have, and all the sewing time you will have! Feeling sorry for your roofers, hope they take it easy up there.

Girl, I'm here with you!! I'm in Denton, sweltering in the heat. The grass is a lovely brown stink.. and I don't want to go anywhere in the car because that is even worse than the air temperature.. HOTTER!! Rediculous!!!

Well, that's it. I'm done whining. We've been in the upper 80's here for a couple weeks and I've been a big baby about it. No more! I'll just say, well, at least it's not 110!
What a lucky Chaney to go to camp with such an awesome quilt! She'll have a blast. :)

Camp is wonderful. She will have a great time and you will too once your anxiety calms down. Hang in there, that heat has to break some time. Ours finally did.

Hey by Friday you're on a definitely cooling trend! I know what you mean about roofers. We had ours replaced a couple of years ago in the middle of the summer too. And it was HOT here in Fresno. Can't wait to see the camp quilt!

It's sometimes hard watching them grow up and take on new challenges without us!

The quilt is a great idea and the fabric is so cute.

I hope the roofers get the job finished early so they can get out of the heat.

Can't wait to see the quilt. Chaney is a lucky girl to have such a great mommy!!! The roofers doing our neighborhood have been starting really early in the morning and leaving in the heat of day the coming back in the evening until dark. It's kind of noisy during odd hours but I don't blame them!!!

Oh what a lucky girl to have a pretty piece of Mommy to take with her to camp. My daughters, in their early 20's now, loved camp and I always made sure they had a new little pillow to tuck into their sleeping bags and tucked notes in for them to read when feeling lonely at night.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of your quilt
(and the high today will be 72 in southern California)
