Have a Stitchin' Weekend {project}

Pin It

I need to start taking my lunch to work everyday.  It's healthier and more economical.  I can't say that I'm super excited about packing a lunch every night before {or in the morning} but I think I can be a little more motivated if I have something cute to put it in.

I made this little bag last night.  It's the fabric version of a paper sack.  Completely washable and re-usable so it's green too.  And have your read all the reports about the plastic linings in lunch totes and how dangerous they can be??  I'm much happier having something that is chemical free touching my food.

The outside is made from vintage linens and the inside is lined with a slightly sturdier quilting fabric.

The little elastic tie is actually a hair tie.  The button is vintage and it my favorite part of the bag.

So what will I be working on this weekend?  A tutorial for making this lunch sack... a quilt... and if I have a little time maybe a new pattern too.  What will you be working on?

See ya'll on Monday to link up your and show off your weekend projects.  Have a stitchin' weekend!

Awesome project! I love it when we (as artists) can incorporate found or used items like the vintage button, bed linen and the hair band into our projects. What a great way to go green!

That is so cute! I am anxiously awaiting the tutorial for this! This weekend I will be working on a quilted table runner for my coffee table. I could use some input, so if you have time pop on over to my blog.

So cute. I can't wait for a tutorial, this would make a great gift bag, that is a gift that keeps on giving for small presents. I pack my lunch almost every day, since starting my new job, and it has certainly saved a lot of money - and a bit of my waistline.

I think the elastic hair ties are genius. I have used them for coffee cozies. They are pretty and practical!

That is awesome! My fiance and I have started to bring lunch to work as well to save money (mostly for our upcoming trip to vegas), and I have been looking for a lunch box that I really like and doesn't cost so much. I never thought to make one. Thanks for the idea!

Cute lunch sack! I adore the fabrics you put together. We always pack our lunches in our house, and we have cool bags to carry them in. Sure makes a difference!

Lovely little bag, I'll be watching out for the tute, could definitely use a few of those in my house for myself and the kids!

This weekend I'm working on my Cosmo bag and some cushion covers and pillow cases, hope to have something nice to link up Monday!

Well, hey! If I had a cute little lunch sack like that, I would pack up my lunch to eat in front of my sewing machine. ;-)

What cute bag and I especially love your button. This weekend I am working on binding a quilt that the church ladies quilted, design my new pillows for my living room.

When I looked at your lunch bag, there was something familiar about it. Then I realized, I bought that set of sheets when I got married 38 1/2 years ago. I still have small scraps of them in my rag bin. It makes me feel old to see "vintage" sheets I have owned appearing in blogs all over the web.
They do look great as a lunch bag.
