| I should have ironed better but it was late... |
I have been meaning to make some fabric grocery bags for a long time. I grocery shop weekly and I almost hang my head in shame when they bag my stuff in the plastic bags. But not this coming weekend!
I have been sewing with Keyka Lou patterns for several years now and I have never been disappointed with one of her designs. Her patterns have great pictures and easy to follow instructions. She also has a great blog with additional tutorials and tips for almost all her patterns. So when I was ready to make some grocery bags, I headed to her site and downloaded her Reusable Grocery Bag pattern.
Start to finish, it took me 40 minutes to make this bag and that includes picking out and cutting the fabrics! Aren't those fabrics cute?? I bet my next bag will go even faster. It is fully reversible and washable. She has a genius method for making the bottom of the bag sturdy and all the seams are double stitched for strength.
I will be making a few more of these bags this weekend {they are a great stashbuster project too!}. What are your weekend sewing plans?
Have a stitchin' weekend! See ya'll on Monday to show off your weekend sewing projects...

That is a cute bag. I bought bags at the grocery store and used them for a while and now, well they are scattered all over the place (cars, house and who knows).
It's adorable! How much can you fit into it? That's my question for homemade ones. I have some reusable ones from the store...but they are bigger.
super cute! I've always thought Keyka Lou patterns look great but haven't tried one yet. I really like this bag though :)
I've made this pattern and it's great! I use mine all the time, I've even used it for carting masses of library books. Love your fabric choices.
I have some of the same fabric you used! That bag is darling!!!

That is a really cute bag. I have lots of ECO bags but not many I have made for groceries. My favorite is a nylon fold up one that fits in my purse with a Wxxxxname on it. Bags are not on my list this week. Going to be FMQ to get some finished items.
I really like her patterns as well. And your fabric choice is oh-so-cute!
I'm spending my weekend machine quilting. Yay/yikes--not sure which word is quite appropriate.
Way too cute! I might remember to take a bag like that into the store!
So very pretty, the fabric is just adorable. Well, I'm headed on over to get the pattern and try it out. Oh, now to choose some fabrics...the fun begins for this snowy weekend in Buffalo, NY.
I love that bag pattern! Can't wait to give it a try. Can you tell me the name of the fabric you used or where you got it? Thanks so much!

Great bag! Thanks for the link to Keyka Lou too.
Thanks for the project -- I have lots of 'grocery' bags but not a pretty one. I got Keyka Lou's pattern and made one with cherries fabric on the outside and red/white stripes on the inside.
REALLY easy to make and SOOOO CUTE!!
