Goodbye, Etsy... Hello, That Girl The Shop right here on my blog! I really like having everything self-contained here with a more seamless feeling. Plus, I can house my PDF patterns and make them instantly download-able in my shop here which was impossible on Etsy. And BTW, I am about to have several new patterns done... yay!
The shop is still a little bare bones from a design standpoint because a lot of it is up to me and what I want to do HTML-wise which is definitely more of a Steve project. ;) But in the meantime, I'm still excited because it's very cost effective and easy to manage.
I hope ya'll are having a wonderful weekend...

Oooh, cool. I don't sell a ton on etsy but I am thinking about setting up a "shop" on my blog, too. I'm skeered. Lots of research before that will happen. Good luck w/ your shop!
good luck - your post answered questions though that I had been thinking of myself. I don't have an etsy shop - I have thought about it but do not have a lot to sell, I hand quilt and therefore do not produce a lot. With you selling on your blog how will you accept payments?

Congrats on taking the big leap! I broke up with Etsy a few months back (for very different reasons) and it was sooooo hard for me but was the very best thing I could have done. I hope the transition goes smoothly for you. I"m looking forward to seeing the new patterns!
It's a big step - but I'm sure it feels like a fantastic move forward.
You totally just answered a question for me. =) Ive been debating. As I live in CA, land of taxes, Ive been a wee bit worried about doing an etsy.com store... Good luck! And I cant wait to see what is coming soon!
Good for you! I think making your life easier and saving money is a good thing! =)
I've been considering Etsy as well...it seems that the relisting is the problem...to keep your item at the top of the list, you need to relist practically every day. Hmmm....lots to think about. Good topic! Thanks.
Well that's a relief. My first thought was that you were going to stop blogging!
What an exciting new venture. Good for you! Best of luck as you get everything prepped and ready to fly! It will be exciting to see the new patterns, too.
Congratulations on your new venture..nothing like doing it YOUR WAY! I have been thinking about an Etsy shop but I can't even do my blog so how would I do an Etsy shop? Thank you for giving me a second option to consider. Just love your Blog.
Best of luck on your new blog/shop venture!
just checked out your new shop and it looks great! Love your work!
"Stumbled" across your blog today and love your quilts. Beautiful! Please consider stopping by kiki-itssewkiki.blogspot.com and becoming a follower. I'm a newbie and would appreciate the support. Thanks!!
Great idea - I cannot believe how little many women are selling their work for on Etsy, PLUS paying fees! I think you've made a great decision!
I've been considering the same thing but I don't have a "Steve" of my own to help set up my shop. I may be contacting you for some advice...
Hi Jennifer, I have recently discovered your blog and am enjoying it and learning how great a blog can look, with skill and knowledge and enthusiam.. I have just sold my very first item on Folksy, which is the Uk version of Etsy. I also have a shop on Etsy, but did not seem to get anywhere. I was wondering if you had time to spare to give a quick opinion on my recent rant regarding the real costs of making quilts, as I am trying to learn how to reach people, who share my passion. Thanks. -Suzy
