Bliss {is a finished quilt}

This quilt contains a few firsts for me... including working with a layer cake {Moda Bliss} and making a quilt with lots of red in it.  I don't know what my aversion to red has been but I'm over it now because I.Love.This.Quilt.

The simple half square triangles {HST's}were arranged according to color make the zig zags.  I have avoided working with HST's but my fear of them was for no reason because it was a breeze putting this quilt together.

I have a thing about quilts having some sort of balance to them and I found my balance here by using rounded corners.  Don't you just love them?

I used a variegated pink thread and quilted the red/pink rows with two double lines and the blue/green rows with single lines that follow the zig zag pattern.  I lengthened my stitch length and I really like the defined stitches I got by doing that.

It's backed with a vintage sheet that is so soft and complements the feel of the quilt nicely.  I love free motion quilting and its results but sometimes I forget how nice it is to read under a quilt that hasn't been quilted as heavily because it drapes so nicely.

Despite Steve's surprise, this quilt is going to live with me.  I suppose I could sell it but I just shipped my Swell quilt off to its new home and it is always a little sad to part ways with a quilt-baby.  But now I have another red and aqua quilt that makes me smile...

I love this quilt, the zig zags work really well!! I really want to try some hsts now! The rounded corners are lovely too. I love the Bliss fabric and am always amazed how different quilts made from the same fabric can look, I finished a Bliss quilt recently and it looks completely different! It's here if you want to take a look:

Eeeekk! That's so cute! In all the quilts I've made I've never even thought to do rounded corners. I must add that to my list!

Rounded corner quilts are my favorite! I love the color combination of the fabrics with your quilt. I love your choice of fabrics in this project. Red and pink absolutely looked amazing on your quilt. Keep up the good work! :)

Loving this quilt! Red is such a great color. Is there any trick to binding rounded corners? They look awesome and add a little extra specialness to the quilt.

I love this quilt! I have a question about the backing sheet. Was it prewashed? If so, how did you handle the shrinkage of the top vs no shrinkage of the backing? I have thought of using old sheets for backing but wondered how it would turn out with the pieced top not being prewashed.

I, too, just finished a quilt top using bliss, and triangles, too, although with white. Love the curved corners. I haven't tried that yet, but just might have to.

So pretty - I'm digging zigzag quilts and you're right, the rounded corners are perfect for it!

An aversion to red? That's like an aversion to chocolate, or fresh flowers, or the smell of rain! :) I thought a passion for red was universal.

If anything can make you fall in love with red, it is aqua! :-)

I have a Bliss jelly roll waiting for me on my shelf, and I can hardly wait to cut in. I love this line so much!!

I think your quilt is precious. I've never done rounded corners before, and it is on my "must try" short list! I think it is the perfect finish to your great quilt!

Beautiful. How did you find doing the rounded corners? I'm nervous of them, as I don't know how to do them. Very pretty and I hope you enjoy having it draped over you at home.

what a fantastic quilt, Jennifer! I love the rounded corners. it gives the quilt such a different look. love the bliss. ah, so pretty. good for you for keeping this one! oh, and i couldn't agree more...sometimes a "loosely" quilted quilt is a good thing. so much softer!
