Well, sort of... Steve seems to have come down with the crud. Strep is running rampant at his office so when he woke up sick yesterday, I forced encouraged him to go to the Dr. so he could hopefully catch it early. He's on antibiotics now and I'm SO hoping that they do the trick because I miss my funny, easy-going Steve. So this weekend was an odd one but I did manage to squeeze in some quilting.
Actually quilting a quilt is my favorite part of making a quilt. If I had an endless supply of quilt tops, I would be in heaven. I've had my quilt along quilt basted for some time and it sat patiently waiting for its turn. It's a big quilt so I needed a slot of time where I could work on it without having to take it off my machine and I finally had that chance this weekend.
I'm about half-way done hand stitching the binding on so hopefully I'll have a finished quilt to share sometime this week. We are actually expecting freezing rain/sleet/snow tomorrow and I'm dying to get a quilt-in-the-snow picture like I see on so many other blogs. Maybe tomorrow will be my chance!
I hope everyone had a great {sickness-free} weekend! Happy Fabric Tuesday!!

This is so funny because I just posted about how quilting is my least favorite part of quilting. Can I send a few tops your way? : )
It looks beautiful!
I love the quilting, too. Actually I love everything except BASTING! I use the spray but even then it is too much work for me. I found a quilt shop that STILL has almost the entire line of Swell and I am so tempted b/c I have always wanted it. Gotta watch that budget, though!
What an adorable quilt!
Have you heard the buzz about deColourant? It is a NEW and exciting product that removes and replaces the color of dyed fabrics with ease. Become a follower at decolourant.blogspot.com and check out www.harbor-sales.com and www.i-kandi.com.
deColourant has been named one of the TOP 20 new products at CHA 2011! Quilting has a whole new meaning now with an endless array of fabrics that can be created!
Too funny about the noise! My boys complaint about the exact same thing! My FMQ foot also can get quite squeeky / screechy, which is irritating even to me. Looks great!! Feel better!
if I could make an endless supply of quilt tops and not have to quilt them, I would be happy. unfortunately I cannot afford to pay to have them all quilted so I have to do it myself.
I'm totally with Lee's comment. Actually quilting the quilts totally intimidates me (I may have mentioned that to you before...). So I would LOVE to send some quilt tops your way! Although I am determined to learn how to do some of my own this year, partly because I WANT to learn and partly because it is no longer in my budget to send them out (not if I want any more new fabric, that is...)
I can't believe you want snow. I think your quilt looks great.
It's beautiful! Maybe I'll finish mine by the end of February...I'll think about it. =)
I can't wait for our snow too...it will be exciting!
Seems funny to think of repetitively pushing a needle thru fabric and batting as 'loud'...espcially some quilting being louder than other! ha ha!! Beautiful quilt!! I fall back on free motion as my favorite, too! It's also the easiest, at least for me!
I heard today about a posting on a church marquee that said "Would whoever is praying for snow please stop!". Could that be you? =) Your storm is heading toward me, I hear! My least favorite part of making a quilt is sewing the rows together. I sometimes put off the quilting, but enjoy doing it. I really like to put on the binding! Thanks for the quilty love, Jennifer. I'll be finishing my quilt-a-long quilt soon!
It's looking so great Jennifer! I've got mine all basted and ready to quilt this weekend :)
I hope Steve feels better soon!
I really enjoy the quilting, too! It used to seem like a chore, when i was using my quilt frame. But now that I'm back to quilting on a regular machine I enjoy it more, and i play with new designs more!
I'm so excited to hear someone loves the quilting process as much as I do! One of these days, I'll find a book just on quilting (with a hand wave to piecing) and I'll be in heaven!
Hope the weather isn't too bad on your side of the Metroplex. Our weather here gave me a much needed snow day.
haha, that's so funny...hubby prefers when i straight line quilt vs stipple because of the noise factor as well!!
the quilt is beautiful!
What foot do you use for your machine to do that? It's so pretty. I love it. Goodness i miss sewing!
Beautiful, I love the free motion, it looks wonderful!
I've been free-motioning a slew of tops I've made in 2010 and the more I do the more I like it and find it relaxing...I totally get where you are coming from!
