Christmas Quilts

Pin It Do you see the white out the window behind the quilts?? Yep, it snowed in Texas... on Christmas! We ended up with a little over 4 inches. I'm sure that doesn't sound like much to my northern blogging friends!

Wow, it's been tough keeping these a secret! Two quilts in two weeks pretty much occupied all of my crafty time. But I will say that I, an the recipients are happy with the results! I didn't end up doing a zig-zag quilt; it just didn't seem to work this time around. When I have a little more time, I'm sure I'll be doing one then, though...

This one is my own pattern and I've used American Jane Snippets, Quilter's Muslin, and the rest is from my stash.

It also has a pieced backing with a few extra blocks pieced in...

This second quilt looks like stained glass to me. The batiks turned out really pretty set against the black sashing. It is also my own pattern. Both quilts are nice sized lap quilts; just warm enough for our Texas winter weather.

I hope ya'll had a Merry Christmas! I know that we sure did...

Oh Christmas Tree...

We spent this afternoon decorating the inside of our house. This is our fourth Christmas in our home and each year it seems that our decorations multiply! I love our tree. It is artificial due to allergies but I think it looks great for a "fake" tree as my daughter calls it.

I am especially proud of the top. I think I spend just as much time on the top as it takes to hang the lights and the ornaments.

And what almost 6 year old girl doesn't need a aqua Charlie Brown tree decorated with disco balls?

Now I just need to get the shopping done and my projects finished!

Mine, all mine...

Pin It ... until I make the quilts to give as gifts for Christmas. I'm really hoping that I ordered a little too much fabric so there is some left over for me! I love Denyse Schmidt's fabrics and I'm so excited to have some on it's way to me courtesy of Fresh Squeezed Fabrics.

I've been dying to make a zig zag quilt so one quilt will definitely be that. The other quilt will be something modern; I'm still sketching ideas.

How is everyone coming along on their handmade gifts? I'm actually a little ahead of the game... for now...
